Here's and early pair of forged iron strap hinges that we salvaged from an early wooden chest that was beyond repair. These were hinged to the cover of a large dowery chest that dated somewhere between the late 1700s to the early 1800s. These were hand wrought and despite being a matched pair, they have unique features and aren't exactly the same. One is about 11 1/4 inches long and 1 1/2 inches wide while the other is about 12 inches long and 1 1/2 inches wide. Of course the dimensions vary a bit depending where they are taken due to the primitive, handmade nature of these hinges. Both are still functional and are ready to be installed on anything that needs early hinges. If you are doing a period restoration, go with these originals instead of reproductions!
