Just found this wonderful, old meat hook hanging from the joist of an old barn while searching for antiques! Well-preserved and in excellent shape, it was likely used when a farm animal was slaughtered or a hunted kill was brought home for food. It has a much longer handle than a hay hook, designed to be held by two hands or hung. The hook looks to be forged and the handle has a wonderful grain. It was designed to hold a lot of weight, so whatever your reuse plan, it has great potential! This piece measures 10 13/4 inches high and 15 3/4 inches long. It would look great hanging on a kitchen wall with an iron or copper pot hanging from it!
