Here's a fabulous, old French coffee grinder straight from Europe! We went there about 10 years ago to pick antiques and we found it and many other cool things in an old, uninhabited farmhouse! It's just as we found it, with loads of character and showing plenty of age!
This coffee mill dates back to the early 1900s and is a bit different from the others we have offered. It's mainly made of wood and it has a charming little hopper on the top with a swing-open cover that's still attached. The grinding mechanism still works; coffee grounds end up at the bottom where there was once a drawer. The surface has an old, worn patina giving it a great look! It still has an original embossed brass tag with the manufacturer's name Goldenberg & Cie, of the Zornhoff and Saverne region of Alsace. It has an interesting embossed eye logo.
The box portion of this coffee mill measures 5 1/4 inches long, 5 1/4 inches wide and about 5 inches high, including the hopper cover. With the grinder arm and knob, it is about 7 3/4 inches high. It's structurally sound, still sturdy and not falling apart. If you like to decorate your kitchen with country antiques and untouched primitives, you'll love this cute, original, weathered, as-found piece!
