Antique Country Primitive Wooden Salt Spice Box

Here's a very primitive, wooden spice or salt box in original, untouched condition. Just as it was found, it has a grungy, old, undisturbed patina and was stored away for generations. Crudely made by hand, storage boxes like this one were essential in early rural kitchens. Remnants of make-due hardware are a hint that this divided container of sorts, once had a wooden cover on each side to help keep impurities from contaminating the contents. This old box measures 9 1/2" long, 5 5/8" inches wide, and about 6 1/4 inches high. The divider/handle helps give this piece a cute, folksy look! Rustic and simple, this is a true, original find! Great for use as a holder of condiments as a table centerpiece!
