Antique Primitive Wooden Nutmeg Grinder; Treenware Spice Pepper Mill, Vintage Kitchen Tool

$49.00

Here's a beautiful, yet unusual, antique wooden nutmeg grinder in very good condition. Found in an old farmhouse, it's well preserved and still even has a great aroma inside! This spice mill has a wonderful, primitive appearance with its folksy, turned shape and interesting patina. The surface is smooth to the touch and the wood has rich, warm coloring and nice graining. It also shows some age and minor wear All in all, it certainly helps make it a super looking piece! It's very rugged and solid, and of course, still in useable condition. It isn't cracked or otherwise damaged and hasn't been repaired. Standing about 4 3/4 inches high, its base has a diameter of about 2 inches, although the widest point is 2 1/4 inches.

This grinder has three sections and is much like a mortar and pestle. The top and midsection pieces are each fitted with a punched tin piece for grating the spices. The nutmeg, pepper corns, etc. would be placed in the middle, mortar-like portion and grated up by turning the top pestle-like part back and forth. The very bottom of this grinder collects the ground up spices that fall through the punched tin. This is truly a scarce, antique kitchen implement that displays nicely on a shelf, antique cupboard or among other antique treenware. You won't be disappointed in this quality piece!
