Small Antique Primitive Staved Wooden Tavern Tankard, As Found, Original Untouched Patina

$135.00

We've been fortunate to find several very nice primitive items in the last few weeks and this is one of them! This is an early, staved wooden tavern tankard in very good, untouched condition! It was recently found hidden away in an old, dry cellar and is very well preserved. It's style strongly resembles that of tankards of the Revolutionary War Period. Made of staved pine with a chestnut lap band at the bottom, and an iron band at the top. It's still tight, sturdy and sound, after all these years. It has an old, grungy, dark, dry patina with rich coloring and distinctive graining peeking through. It shows plenty of age and wear, a testament to its age and authenticity. It has all the charms found with old wood including color variations, light abrasions, scratches, and imperfections one would expect from a primitive piece that is around 200 years old. Despite this, there is no rot, active infestation, or significant structural damage. This piece is intact, solid and rugged. It's absolutely just as we found it, still dirty and dusty, cobwebs and all! It will clean up well, if desired, but we know some our customers like items as-found. This is a rather petite tankard, measuring 6 3/4 inches high with an opening diameter of 3 3/4 inches. The bottom of this piece measures 4 1/2 inches across. It's an early piece that's not commonly found anymore. It's museum-quality and a true survivor that is ready to become the centerpiece of your collection! You won't be disappointed in this!
