Vintage 1950s 3" Cast Aluminum Reflective Unitype Numbers, New Old Stock, Originally for Mailbox & House Signs, Sterling Product Co.

Vintage metal unitype reflective numbers in very good, never used condition. These are 3-inch numbers with a rectangular grained background panel (total 3 1/2 inches high) that were originally made for use as mailbox or house number signs. They were meant to be fitted together, next to each other, in a matching aluminum frame. We found a quantity in the basement of an old hardware store that recently closed when the owner retired. These are cast aluminum with a white, smaltz-like reflective coating on the numbers themselves and a painted black background. Many are still in original wax paper and cardstock packaging and are dusty from decades of storage but they clean up well. There are some small signs of age, but they are very presentable and well-made. They are made of cast aluminum, so they won't rust, and each is marked with the manufacturers name, "Sterling", as well as "Pat. Pend." on the backs. Lots of potential uses for these numbers!
