Antique Primitive Country Kitchen Spice Box, Salt Box, Wall Box

$130.00

Here's a one-of-a-kind primitive antique wooden wall box in very good condition. Handmade and loaded with charm, this piece appears to have been meant to hold spices. It has the letter 'S' carved into the left corner of the hinged lift-up cover, while the letter "P" is carved on the right side. In the middle is the letter "A". Perhaps those letters stood for Salt, Pepper and Allspice? The inside of the box has three compartments. Portions of the box have whimsical incised decorations. In addition, two more initials are carved into the back, decorative piece from which the box can be hung on the wall. "E" and "C" likely are the initials of the person who made this piece and his wife. Just as we found it, this rustic, primitive kitchen piece has an original, dry, undisturbed patina. It also has distinct graining and rich, warm coloring. It measures 12 1/4 inches long, 7 1/2 inches high, and 4 3/4 inches wide (deep). Truely a piece of primitive folk art, this fabulous, original spice box would display nicely wherever you hang it!
