We found some very nice, old Sterling Seed Co. seed packets that were never opened and still containing seeds! Sterling Seeds was associated with Northrup King & Co. where "Sterling" served as the company's premier brand for high-quality field and garden seeds for over a century. Each of these packets is marked "Packed for 1943" and are full. Each packet has a beautiful, lithographed image on the front, in sharp vibrant colors. Six of them are marked '5 cents' and one is priced at "10" cents; all of them have descriptions and directions on the backs. A couple of the packets show some age, but none are torn or have ever gotten wet. Available varieties: Lettuce (Grand Rapids), Beet (Detroit Dark Red), Spinach (Bloomsdale/Savoy Leaved), Cucumber (Chicago Pickling), Radish (Early Scarlet Turnip), and Carrot (Improved Danvers Half Long), & Lettuce (Improved Hanson Head). These are difficult to find new old stock seeds still in their original packaging. Not only are they great for collectors of seed packets; they are an opportunity to try and germinate and grow actual vegetables from 1943! It is possible and some folks have documented their success on the web. Old, heritage varieties taste better than the genetically engineered products from today's seeds. Many varieties have been lost over the year as well. Imagine the fun of growing something from the past! These packets have been stored in cool, dry conditions. They are in excellent condition! In addition, we also have a nice 1951 W. Atlee Burpee Co. Parsley seed packet available, complete with originally packaged seeds. These are extra curled dwarf or emerald Parsley seeds. Found with the others in ideal storage conditions.
