Here we have a scarce group of early seed packets from the Card Seed Co. of Fredonia, NY. Several decades ago, a large quantity of seed packets was discovered in a warehouse from this company in well preserved condition. They were black bordered packets with colorful images of fruits and vegetables, and they have been sold by dealers for years since (We have them available in other listings).
This collection was part of the find but these are much older, dated 1908 on the packets. Only a small amount of these were discovered among the tens of thousands of the other more well-known type. These packets have beautiful and very detailed lithographed images making them individual works of art. Included in this group are:
Red Kidney Beans
Detroit Dark Red Beets
Early Alaska Peas
Turnip Rooted Celeriac
Long Yellow Six Week Beans
Hollow Crown Parsnips
This set is more than 100 years old but is well-preserved and in good condition. The colors are still vibrant and unfaded. They show only slight age. They are not torn, stained or moisture damaged. Scarce and quite beautiful, they would be especially nice if framed and matted!
