Here's a very nice 19th Century kitchen item in very good, well-preserved condition! This is a primitive, hand-made ladle or dipper that's perfect for decorating your kitchen or fireplace area. Its handle is blacksmith forged iron with a rat tail hanger, and the bowl portion is hand-hammered brass. The handle is attached to the bowl with original hand-affixed copper rivets. It measures 15 1/4" long overall while the brass bowl portion is 3 5/8 long by 3 1/4 wide and about 1 5/8 inches deep. There are no holes in the brass and the handle is still firmly attached without any play or movement. These look great hanging on the wall, especially with other kitchen tools. This dipper is just as we found it, with an original patina. The brass could be polished to a shine if so desired. This is bargain priced at just $25!
