This item is an antique Lowney's Chocolate advertising candy spoon (also known as a bonbon server or confectionery spoon). It was produced for the Walter M. Lowney Company, a famous American chocolate and candy manufacturer founded in Boston in 1883. Circa 1900–1920s, this spoon is made in the classic Art Nouveau style. It features an ornate, flowing handle and a distinctive scalloped, clover-like flat bowl stamped with the "Lowney's" name in script. It’s made from stamped sheet metal, typically brass or tin with a gold-tone gilt finish. These small utensils were used to serve fine chocolates or bonbons. During the turn of the century, etiquette discouraged grabbing candy directly with bare hands. They were frequently packed directly inside boxes of Lowney's chocolates as premium promotional items or distributed for store demonstrations. This one is 4 1/8 inches long and in good shape with some age but nice patina.
