We found a half a dozen 1920s paper envelopes with Erie Railroad advertising printed on them. They were found inside an old leather tobacco pouch that where they had been since new. They are the same shape as the pouch, so we believe they either were pouch liners or envelopes in which loose leaf, scrap chew, plug, or granulated smoking tobacco was sold in. Haven't found any of these anywhere else so they must be a scarce item. Each measures 4 1/2" high, 3 7/8" long at the top and 3 1/8" long at the bottom. Two of the six envelopes are yellowed with age. You can see the impression the snap closure made on some of them. They feature the Erie Railroad logo with the "Safety Always" slogan.
