Vintage 1920s Wrigley's Doublemint Chewing Gum Paper Counter Display Refill Sign: New Old Stock

Here's a new old stock paper advertising sign featuring Wigley's Doublemint Chewing Gum. This specific piece was manufactured for shopkeepers to insert into their countertop display boxes. It has a bold instruction to "REFILL THIS BOX FROM YOUR STOCK" directed to the store clerk to restock the display unit with individual packs of gum when it ran low.

This sign prominently features the "Wrigley Spearmen", the brand's popular elf-like mascots styled with pointed red hats and outfits, some of them sports uniforms. This is a new old stock piece found in the old Wrigley's headquarters in never-used condition! It dates to the 1920s and Wrigley's marketed the gum as a health aid. There is a flap that appears as if it were printed upside down in error, promoting how the product relieves thirst and sooths the throat and stomach as well as helping digestion. This flap was actually printed upside down on purpose so it could be folded over and be seen by the customer while the bottom part of the sign was tucked inside a countertop box holder. The colors are vibrant and free of any fading. It is very clean with sharp corners and no creases or other damage. This sign measures 9 3/8" wide by 9 7/8". This is an extremely scarce item as not many survived. It's a super item worthy of framing!
