Antique Country Primitive Carved Wooden Dough Bowl, 19th Century Hand Hewn Trencher; Old Genuine Treen Bowl

Sorry, this item has sold.

Get ready for autumn and the harvest season with this handsome, old, carved wooden dough bowl in very good condition! It was found in an old barn, still solid, sturdy, and sound. There're no problems with active woodworms, termites, or dry rot. This trencher dates back to the 19th Century and was hand-hewn from a log. There's awesome carving detail still visible, especially on the underside that adds plenty of folksy character! This old bowl has wonderful natural coloring and nice graining as well as fabulous signs of age that all add up to a great look! Its aged and well-worn surface has all the charms of century-old wood including a gorgeous patina, dark stains, lots of carving marks, scuffs, grooves, and even an old repair. It measures just about 23 1/2 inches long, 11 1/4 inches wide, and about 5 inches high, making it the perfect size for a centerpiece! Due to its primitive, imperfect shape, the measurements can vary a bit, depending on where you take them.

This bowl is well preserved and has a great look! Other than rubbing it down with a little Howard Feed & Wax, this dough bowl is just like it was found. We did not sand it or otherwise alter it. This is a super item for interior decorating, especially because this old dough bowl is a genuine antique, not one of those cheap, newly made foreign ones that will likely split after a month! Looks great on a coffee table or fireplace hearth, especially when filled with gourds, squash, pumpkins, balls of yarn, pinecones, fruit, wooden blocks, nuts, pine branches, easter eggs, pussy willows, dried flowers and more! I've seen them used to hold towels in bathrooms too. You won't be disappointed in this genuine, quality, antique piece! Makes a great, unique gift! Don't miss out! USPS, FED-EX, or pick up at our Western New York location. We will rebate shipping overage.
