Here's a 19th Century wooden maple sugar candy mold in as-found, untouched condition! Made from a single piece of wood, this hewn paddle-shaped piece has five whimsically chip-carved forms. It has a beautiful, old patina that has been worn smooth in places, especially the handle. In addition to candy, this mold may also have been used to make decorative butter pats. Although it shows plenty of age, this paddle-shaped primitive piece is in good condition. It has old, shallow splitting down the center that doesn’t go through the forms nor does it go very deep. The handle is missing a piece on its underside but it doesn’t harm it’s charm. The piece measures 17 1/2 inches long, 2 3/8 inches wide, and 1 1/2 inches thick. It's a great-looking primitive piece that displays well in kitchens and among other country antiques!
