Here's a gorgeous, old, carved, wooden dough bowl in very good condition! We found this among some other awesome primitives inside an old barn and it's solid, rugged, and sound. There's no problems with active woodworms, termites, or dry rot. It dates back to the 19th Century and was hand-hewn from a log. Each end has whimsically carved handles that add lots of charm! One end of one of those handles is missing a small piece but that doesn't harm its charm too much. This old bowl has wonderful coloring and a nice, old, dry patina along with signs of age and past use that add loads of character. It has all the charms of old, worn wood. Bowls like this one were an important part of the rural household. They were often used to chop food, make bread dough, feed animals, wash dishes, wash babies, serve food, and more.
This one measures 24 inches long, 10 inches wide, and about 4 inches high, making it a great size for a centerpiece! It's a solid, rugged, well preserved bowl that has a folksy, old-world appearance. Great for interior decorating, this old dough bowl is a genuine antique, not one of those newly made ones from Mexico or China. Change up its look from time to time by filling it with fruit, pine cones, balls of yarn, wooden spools, blocks, walnuts, acorns, primitive tools, or whatever you can think of! You won't be disappointed in this quality, antique, handmade piece! Awesome gift idea for house warming or newlyweds! Looks great on a fireplace hearth, coffee table or just standing in a corner!
