Antique Primitive Rustic Wooden Candle Lantern made from 19th Century Yarn Winder

Sorry, this item has sold.

This is a beautiful, primitive, wooden, candle lantern that once was used as a yarn winder. It dates back to the 19th Century and is made of pine with both mortise & tenon and lap joints. There are no nails in this piece. The patina is old, worn and original, giving it a wonderful, primitive appearance. Both ends have round holes where a rod was once inserted, allowing it to be spun so it quickly could wind up yarn after it had been made on a spinning wheel. With it turned vertically and a candle inserted in one end, it makes a great candle holder or lantern! Place it on a table, mantel, or shelf or hang it from the ceiling for a gorgeous, country, accent piece! It measures 15" H, 7 1/2" W, 10" Diag.
