Here's an old, Eastern European, galvanized washboard unlike most others you'll likely find! This one is made completely of metal (zinc treated steel) and is arched with a thick frame all the way around it. The rippled surface is convex on one side and concave on the other. Some of the galvanized surface in front is worn and has light colored calcium deposits from all the work it has seen, which gives it a rustic, weathered appearance.
This washboard measures around 20 3/4 inches high and about 13 1/4 inches wide. It's rugged and strong; there are no rust holes or weak spots. There is a stress line/crack in the rippled metal of the board that is tight and immobile. There's no chance of falling apart. This piece was found in a barn and is still a bit dusty and grungy looking. This would make a nice decorative piece, especially if hung on the wall in the laundry room or displayed among other galvanized items or country antiques. Great for use as a magnetic photo frame. It would look cute in a garden too! Unique and full of character, you'll be pleased with this item!
