Lot of 40 19th Century Handmade Iron Square Nails; Early Rectangular Head Nails, 2 1/2" Long

Sorry, this item has sold.

We found an old container of very early nails in an old barn we cleaned out recently! These are different from the typical old cut square nails. They have angled, rectangular heads and taper down to a point at the end. The shafts are much thinner and each nail is slightly different. They run between 2 3/8 and 2 1/2 inches long and some have pyramid heads. These are not bent so they probably were never used. I received an email from someone who believes these might have been for shoeing horses. They do have surface rust; we have not wire brushed or cleaned them. Lots of potential uses; great for period restorations. Buyer gets 40 for $20.
