Here's a beautiful, early 1900s redware pottery bowl in very good condition. This gorgeous, slip-decorated piece has cream colored glaze with two thin blue bands, along with whimsical, hand-applied floral decorations in green, purple, pink, blue, and white. The underside is unglazed, though there is some inadvertent spots where some ended up. It shows age and wear, especially the dry, unglazed back, with an fabulous patina that adds charm and character. It originated in Romania and has a marking on the underside from the city of Cluj.
This bowl has an 7 3/4 inch diameter, is 2 1/4 inches high and has a slight footed base measuring about 3 1/4 inches in diameter. There's some simple manufacturing flaws and/or glaze wear on some edges but there are no cracks or significant flaws. It has a fabulous, country chic look and even has an old hanger for displaying on the wall! It’s a unique, old, folksy piece of pottery that is sure to be a focal point of whatever room you display it in!
