Vintage Bottle: Camp Coffee and Chicory; R. Paterson & Sons

Sorry, this item has sold.

Here's an original, 8 ounce botle of "Camp" Coffee and Chicory from R. Paterson & Sons in Glascow, Scotland, that dates from the 1930-40s. This popular product originated in Scotland in the 1870s and is still in production. It's a concentrated coffee-flavored syrup that is mixed with hot water or milk that was developed for use by the UK military. The label depicts a kilted soldier with a cup and saucer while a Sihk servant waits at attention. Modern versions of this product has a label showing the Sihk sitting with the soldier with his own cup and saucer, presumably in an attempt to not depict him as a servant. This bottle still has its original label which is in pretty good shape but there is some staining. The original metal cap is also included. We found several of these in one location; this one is still half full. As the photos show, It's an excellent-looking, vintage piece of advertising that displays well and would look great in a kitchen!
