Pair of 19th Century Ovoid Redware Jugs; Antique Glaze, Slip Decorated Folk Pottery

Here we offer two, gorgeous pieces of antique folk pottery in excellent, well-preserved condition! These are old, terra cotta style redware jugs with original applied handles. Both are ovoid shaped with a tall spouts that are amazingly intact with only some light chipping around the very edges.

The larger of the jugs is 10 1/2 inches tall with a base that measures 4 inches in diameter. It's widest point is 8 inches in diameter and it's upper portion is whimsically decorated in white-colored slip.

The smaller jug is very similar in style and looks great displayed next to the bigger one. This jug is 8 1/4 inches high, it's base is 3 1/4 inches in diameter with it's widest point measuring 6 inches. It has some random glazed highlights. Otherwise, the majority of both pieces have dry, unglazed surfaces.

Both dates back to the 19th Century and have managed to survive without being seriously damaged. They spend decades in storage and are dusty and dirty but aren't cracked or banged up. Both show age and have only minor wear. Guaranteed old and authentic, these early example of redware pottery will add a special touch to any place they're displayed. $150 for the pair.
