Vintage 1962 Battery Operated Charley Weaver Bartender Toy, Rosko, New Old Stock, in Original Box

Sorry, this item has sold.

Here's an original, new old stock, Charley Weaver Bartender toy still in its original box. It's copyright 1962 by Roy Rodgers Enterprises and according to the box, was made in Japan, is Rosko Tested, and is numbered 0850. This toy is made of different materials including lithographed tin with rubber face and hands, cloth clothing, plastic drink glass and shaker cover, metal shaker cup, and various other metal body parts.

The toy is, as you would expect, in excellent condition. Everything works as it should. When turned on, Charley mixes a cocktail, pours himself a belt, drinks it, smacks his lips, then his face turns red and smoke comes out his ears. Since this toy is NOS, the battery compartment is immaculate with no corrosion on the contacts. We put batteries in to test it and have removed them. The only condition issue the toy has is some green discoloration to the rubber where Charley's eye glasses make contact with his face. The box is intact but has frayed around some edges and has some tears. It has bright colors and graphics with no fading or water damage.

Charley Weaver was a persona created by actor Cliff Arquette. Arquette had retired from show business but unexpectedly had tremendous success appearing as Weaver, first in the late fifties, on TV shows as Weaver. It became a second career for him until his death in the mid-seventies.

This item is an excellent working example of such bartender type toys of the early 1960s that is very well preserved and quite desirable! You won't be disappointed!
