Antique Country Primitive Wooden Firkin; Old Staved Sugar Bucket with Swing Handle

Here's a beautiful, antique, wooden, firkin that we found while cleaning out an estate recently. It's 11 1/2 inches tall, not including the swing handle and has a bottom diameter of 13 1/8 inches with the top measuring 12 inches across. It is staved with three finger bands that keep it tight and secure. Sometimes referred to as sugar buckets, firkins are awesome as decorative pieces that are also quite functional as storage containers. Believe it or not, this one was being used to hold walking sticks and canes when we found it. Probably made of pine, it has maple coloring and shows age and wear.
