Antique Country Primitive Hand Carved Wooden Grain Scoop

$64.00

Here's an old, hand carved wooden grain scoop in very good condition! We found this in an old barn not long ago and its well-preserved and has loads of character! It was carved out of a hardwood, amazingly enough, Oak, we believe. It has incredible graining with rich coloring. After more than a century, it still even shows lots of carving detail.

The scoop measures 14 inches long, 5 1/8 inches wide and is about 2 3/4 inches high, when laying on a table. There is no dry rot, woodworms, or termite damage; it has a nice, smooth patina. It shows age and wear from use, namely an uneven opening at the mouth of the scoop and a few, small, blackened spots where it may have been used to move some hot embers around in a fireplace or stove. It does not smell of fire/smoke, however. There's a short age crack that runs from the opening 2 3/4" into the scoop; it's tight and not a structural concern.

Solid, rugged, and sound, this primitive, rustic piece is very nice. Wonderful to display in a dough bowl, grain bucket, or on its own! Guaranteed NOT to be one of those newly made scoops being sold these days! Shipped from Western New York.
