Warehouse Find! Never-used vintage 1940s punchboard in very good, unused condition! These were found in shops, fraternal organizations, bars and more, and used as trade stimulators and for gambling amusement. A customer would pay a a small price to punch a hole, hoping to win a prize. This particular punchboard has a horse racing theme and is called "By A Nose", priced 25 cents per punch.
While some boards offered small prizes like cigarettes or candy, this one paid off in cash. Inside the holes are tiny slips of paper with numbers or words printed on them. In this case, if the paper reads PLACE, you won $2.00. It the paper has SHOW on it, you won $1.00. If you paper reads WIN, you got a punch in the Jackpot section where you could win up to $30.00. Other possible prizes were available. This punchboard is very well preserved and no holes have been punched. In fact, the metal punch piece is still sealed in the the back.
It measures 10 1/8" long by 7 3/4" high by 3/4" thick. It displays wonderfully and is a cool, old, gambling piece! A nice deal for just $24! Great look with race horses and vivid colors with only minor wear from decades of storage. You won't be disappointed!
