Here's a fabulous, forgotten old coffee grinder we found hidden away in an old farmhouse! It's straight from where it spent close to a century and is almost exactly as we found it. The only thing we have done was to clean it up.
This coffee mill dates back to the early 1900s and is a bit different from the others we have offered recently. It's mainly made of wood, and it has a very cute hopper on top with a swing-open cover that's still attached. The grinding mechanism still works; coffee grounds end up at the bottom where a drawer used to be. The surface has an old grungy, worn patina giving it a great look! You'll also find that it has wonderful graining and was made with box joints for strength, which are similar to dovetails but a different style of joint. In addition, this grinder has the encircled name of 'ELMA' burned in the front of it. It's got all the charms of old wood, including a split on the top but it adds to the charm, making it a great, old item to display!
The box portion of this coffee mill measures 4 inches long, 4 3/8 inches wide and about 5 inches high, including the hopper cover. With the grinder arm, it is about 7 1/2 inches high. It's structurally sound, still sturdy and not falling apart. If you like to decorate your kitchen with country antiques and primitives, you'll love this cute, original, rustic, as-found piece!
