Set of three vintage grass seed advertising hang tags in never used condition! These were attached to sacks of Flower City Special Mixture grass seed that was sold by Daw's Drug Stores. We believe they date back to the 1940s. We found them in a warehouse recently where they were stored away in a box for decades.
Daw's was a popular drug store chain that opened their first store in Rochester, NY in the early 1930s and grew to a 46 store chain with locations in several cities throughout Western and Central New York. In addition to the usual drug store merchandise, Daw's offered a variety of other items, many at very reasonable prices. The company merged with Rite Aid in the mid 1970s.
These tags are single-sided on heavy, glossy card stock with a hole punched at the top for hanging on the bags of grass seed with a string. They have sharp graphics with vivid red, black, and white colors. Each measures 3 inches long by 2 3/4 inches high. Rochester is known as the Flower City, hence the name Flower City Special Mixture. These tags are very well-preserved and are scarce drug store collectibles! You get 3 for $5.00 shipped!
